I've been going to Omniya for years and I've always been impressed. This review is long overdue. I've had a few procedures done with them and I've been thinking of doing a hair transplant for years, now that they're offering it I will definitely go ahead with it. They only work with the best doctors. Thank you Omniya. - Adam
Great clinic. Had the designer lip filler with Dr Thu Linh and my lips look fantastic, they look natural too which I was worried about! Great team! - Vanessa
If you are thinking of going on Hormone Replacement Therapy I would highly recommend Dr Sohere Roked. She is the best doctor I have ever met. She listens and understands her patients (I know because my 2 sisters also see her) Her approach is different to other doctors as she is a trained psychologist - She understands the balance between hormone therapy and mental health. She has honestly saved my life! - Meridith
Omniya's Dr Tu Lin was recommended to me by a friend who has the most incredible skin and lips. Obviously, I had to try. She is such a caring doctor, and went out of her way. I've had lip fillers in the past with others, but now I've been to Omniya I doubt I need to go anywhere else. I love my new lips. Omniya Clinic is without fail the best place for lip fillers in London! Thank you! - Nora

Microdermabrasion Treatment Information
What is microdermabrasion?
Your skin goes through a lot every day. After fighting against the harmful rays of the sun, pollution, toxins, and harsh winds, your complexion is eventually going to show signs of a battle. Your body’s natural defences will start to break down, and that is how skin can end up looking dull, damaged, rough, and dry. Thankfully, this is where microdermabrasion comes in!
Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure that is used in order to renew the overall texture and tone of your skin. The treatment can improve the appearance of melasma, acne scarring, age spots, fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, and other conditions and concerns relating to your skin.
This treatment makes the most of a special applicator that has an abrasive surface, to remove the skin’s thick outer layer. This is done in a gentle manner, rejuvenating the skin, leaving stunning results. It is a procedure that is safe for the majority of skin colours and types.
What skin concerns does microdermabrasion help with?
Microdermabrasion treatment can help with a range of skin issues.
- Sun damage
- Uneven skin texture and tone
- Dull-looking skin complexion
- Stretch marks
- Acne and acne scars
- Blackheads and enlarged pores
- Brown spots, age spots, and hyperpigmentation
- Wrinkles and fine lines
Microdermabrasion is helpful for people who have very superficial acne scars, pick marks, acne discolouration, mild acne, sallow skin, and dull skin. This may be a good treatment option for anyone who has superficial skin issues and busy lifestyles and they are looking for a treatment that offers a number of benefits with virtually no downtime or side effects. People with deeper acne scars will typically have to have a number of microdermabrasion treatments. We also offer a number of other skin treatments, and so it may be that our skin specialist recommends some other options. Ultimately, though, the choice is, of course, yours.
Getting prepared for microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a procedure that is minimally invasive. It does not involve any type of surgery, and so you’re not going to need to do a lot to prepare for it. However, we do pride ourselves on offering a thorough consultation before every treatment. This gives us the ability to discuss your skin concerns with you. We will also ask about any medical conditions, allergies, and past cosmetic procedures. This will help us to understand what sort of treatment is going to be right for you. This is also a great opportunity for you to ask any questions that you may have.
Before you have your treatment, we would recommend avoiding waxing, tanning creams, and sun exposure a week beforehand. It is also important to avoid using any masks or exfoliating creams three days before your treatment. Before the procedure begins, you will need to remove any makeup and cleanse your face.
How microdermabrasion works
This is a treatment that tends to take around an hour. It will be carried out by one of our experienced and licensed skin care professionals. You won’t need to have any numbing agent or anesthesia for this treatment, as it is not painful. You will simply sit in a reclining chair while one of our experts will use a handheld device to gently sand away your skin’s outer layer in the targeted areas. Once the treatment has been completed, we will apply sunscreen and moisturiser to your skin. This will ensure your skin is protected. We will also give you our recommendations regarding aftercare.
Why we use DiamondTome wands
There are a number of different ways that microdermabrasion can be carried out. However, we definitely believe that the DiamondTome wand is the best. This is the original microdermabrasion device that is crystal-free. This wand has natural diamond chips embedded into the tip. This will glide over your skin, clearing away the dead skin cells, debris, and dirt. This results in a much clearer and smoother complexion.
Why does going crystal free matter?
With traditional microdermabrasion, tiny crystals are used, instead of diamonds, for removing the skin’s outer layer. While there is no denying that these treatments were effective, they also had a lot of drawbacks. Firstly, the crystals were very abrasive, creating heat and inflammation on the skin. If you are someone who already suffers from inflammation, for example, acne or rosacea, this approach could actually make the condition a lot worse. Not only this, but this method would require quite a lot of downtime, which isn’t ideal if you’re a busy man or woman!
With the wand that we use, diamonds will abrade the skin instead. This offers a number of benefits over the crystal-based approach. This includes the following:
- No downtime – There is no downtime associated with the wand from DiamondTome, with most patients only reporting a little bit of minor redness after the treatment.
- Gentle approach – Unlike microdermabrasion that uses crystals, the tip of the wand in this case will not cause inflammation or heat on the skin.
- Customisable – The diamonds and their coarseness can be adjusted in order to provide a more aggressive or a more gentle treatment, depending on your skin condition and your sensitivity.
- Enhanced results – Finally, microdermabrasion with diamonds is gentle, yet you will still get improved results, which will polish the skin and clear away the dead cells.
What should you expect after microdermabrasion?
Once you have had microdermabrasion, you will be able to go back to your daily activities right away. This is because there is no downtime with this treatment. You should, however, make sure you use gentle skin care products and keep your skin hydrated. Do not use any topical acne treatments for at least one day after your treatment. It is also vital to make sure you use sunscreen to protect your skin, no matter what time of year it is. After all, even though it is still cold, the sun does shine in winter, and your skin is going to be more sensitive to sun in the few weeks that follow the treatment.
Microdermabrasion for acne scars
A lot of people find microdermabrasion helpful if they have active acne. It can also be beneficial for raised acne scars, very superficial acne scars, pick marks, and mild acne discolouration. This treatment is widely used for unclogging pores and clearing acne. Often used in combination with medical acne extractions and gentle glycolic peels, microdermabrasion can help to speed up acne clearing.
Microdermabrasion for melasma
Many patients have also turned to microdermabrasion for melasma. It can be helpful in treating this condition, as well as other forms of hyperpigmentation. Optimal melasma treatment may typically include monthly or bi-weekly microdermabrasion used in combination with medical acne extractions and gentle glycolic peels, microdermabrasion can help to speed up acne clearing. Combined with fading creams, daily sunscreens, and glycolic peels. After your initial consultation, you can proceed with the treatment, or take some time to consider it. In most cases, we will have allocated enough time for the treatment to be carried out on the same day, should you so wish.
Most of product contain local anesthetic but some don’t. A numbing cream can be applied before to improve the comfort during the injection. The procedure takes between 15 and 30 minutes depending on which areas are treated. A massage of the area will be performed to make sure the product is well placed.
Are there any complications and side effects of microdermabrasion?
Most people do not experience any side effects when it comes to microdermabrasion. You may feel a bit of skin irritation and tightness. However, most people find that they are able to go straight back to their usual daily activities.
Some of the side effects that are possible include:
- Eye skin bruising, especially if you are taking a blood thinner, such as aspirin
- Spots of bleeding
- Small skin abrasions
- Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
- Skin sensitivity
- Minor bruising
- Skin tightness
How often can you have microdermabrasion?
This is a treatment that can be done as often as weekly or up to every eight weeks. This will depend on the tolerance of your skin and the desired cosmetic outcome. A lot of people opt to begin with weekly treatments for three sessions. They will then change to a monthly maintenance regime. A lot like brushing your teeth, microdermabrasion will help to remove skin debris in a gentle manner. Because human skin tends to regenerate at 30-day intervals, skin improvement with microdermabrasion is not permanent. Therefore, it must be repeated at an average interval of two to four weeks for continual improvement. Typically, numerous treatments – between six and 12 sessions – are recommended for considerable improvement. Of course, this is something that you will be able to discuss with your skin consultant when you have a consultation with them.
The number of microdermabrasion sessions you require will depend on the condition of your skin. This is something you will be able to discuss with your skin specialist.
You can expect to see noticeable results as soon as you have had microdermabrasion.
This treatment will usually take between 30 minutes and one hour, depending on the condition of your skin, the desired outcome, and the area that is going to be treated.
Chemical peels are great for treating acne scarring, active acne, pigmentation issues, wrinkles, and fine lines, improving the overall texture and look of your skin. When it comes to microdermabrasion, the skin will appear younger looking, fresher, clearer, brighter, smoother, and softer. If you are unsure which treatment is going to be right for you, all you need to do is book a consultation with one of our skin specialists who will be happy to advise you.
You may experience a bit of peeling after you have had microdermabrasion. This is because the treatment works by removing the epidermis, which is the outermost layer of the skin, and accelerating skin turnover.
As soon as your skin has healed, you will be able to use makeup. Your skin is going to feel a bit tight and dry, as well as being pink, after the treatment. You can expect this to be the case for 24 hours. Some sorts of makeup should be avoided for a minimum of 24 hours after you have had the treatment.
This treatment works well on congested and oil skin. It is effective if you have blocked pores, breakouts, and blackheads.
The sensation of this treatment feels a lot like mild scratching. A lot of people have compared it to being at the beach on a windy day.
There have been a lot of DIY beauty products released onto the market as of late. Some are good, others are not so good! We definitely do not recommend trying to do microdermabrasion at home, and there are a number of reasons why this is the case. The main reason is because these kits are a lot weaker than the ones we offer. They will not be able to provide the depth of skin abrasion as you would get with professional microdermabrasion, which is why it is better to visit us here at Omniya, rather than wasting your money on a home microdermabrasion kit.
