Thin Lips

At Omniya Clinic in London

Some of us are born with thin lips as a result of genetics. For all of us, our lips get thinner as a result of the natural ageing process. It’s all to do with the rate at which our body produces collagen ie it starts to slows down after the age of 20. Elastin around our lips, which gives the lips definition also falls off. As a result, our lips not only lose their plumpness, but also their shape.

One way to temporarily improve this is through lip fillers. This is a process where the lips are injected with a gel which contains a substance similar to hyaluronic acid (which the body produces naturally). The lips become fuller and their definition starker. At the same time, it can also produce a more pronounced pout.

After receiving lip filler, it is advisable to avoid the sun, as well as the use of a sun bed, steam room or sauna – especially if there is slight swelling in the lips. Alcohol should also be avoided for 24 hours, as should strenuous exercise.

Both women and men – young and old – receive lip filler treatments, with sessions taking from half an hour depending on how many injections are required.
