Hyperhidrosis, also referred to as excessive sweating, can often be found on the underarms, palms of the hands, and the soles of the feet. For the sufferer, it can prove extremely embarrassing when in contact with others.
Excessive sweating is believed to be triggered by a stressful situation, particular emotions, or exercise. In some individuals, though it can simply be spontaneous. Sweating is controlled by the sympathetic nervous system, and it is excessive activity here that is responsible for the majority of individuals with Hyperhidrosis – although doctors are not sure why.
One popular method of treating excessive sweating is using Botox injections for hyperhidrosis. The treatment works by blocking chemical signals from the nerves which stimulate the sweat glands. The area chosen receives a number of injections of Botox with the procedure itself only taking around 15-30 minutes.
