Our chemical peels are a fantastic solution if you want to improve the general appearance of your skin, by brightening or clarifying your skin tone.
The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance is one of the chemical peels with high popularity on the treatment menu within our clinic and a fantastic way of attaining great looking skin.
The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance is a Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid peel, which is suitable for all ethnicities. and It forms part of a wider menu of peels from Obagi, and is being a milder version of the original Obagi Blue Peel. This peel aims to brighten, smoothen skin texture, and decongests clogged pores.
It is suitable for patients of various all skin types. Due to the higher percentage of Salicylic Acid, it is particularly beneficial for those with oily and blemish prone skin. It offers remarkable results for patients with dull mature skin, with fine lines and rough, uneven skin. It is an effective option for patients seeking skin rejuvenation, improved texture, and tone, and achieving a more radiant complexion. This chemical peel has a keratolytic effect, meaning it sheds dead skin and therefore unblocks pores effectively. This contributes to less acne breakouts occurring in the future.
Enhance the look and feel of your skin and skin texture, reduce dark patches, freckles, or age spots. Treat certain types of acne, improve the appearance of mild scars. Treat wrinkles that have been caused by ageing and sun damage, reduce fine lines around the mouth and under the eyes.

A lot of people try to speed up the peeling process once it begins. You shouldn’t do this. Forcing the process is not recommended. This is how you end up with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Accordingly, use a gentle and mild cleanser and gently massage your face with it, simply using your hands. If you were to use a washcloth, you would be wiping the dead skin away prematurely, and that’s not the goal here. Forcing the process won’t give you the results you’re looking for.
Generally, as this is a superficial, Salicylic Acid based face peel, preparation is minimal. You may be asked to stop certain products, to protect your skin, stay hydrated and stop pause specific treatments that may hinder the performance of the chemical peel. If the barrier of your skin shows signs of impairment (dryness), skin prep products are necessary to strengthen the barrier of your skin and make the treatment safe and effective. Your skin specialist will provide you with all the pre and post care information required for your skin.
Yes, iit is likely that we will recommend that you use a medical grade moisturiser and SPF to assist with desquamation (shedding) hydration and protection of your skin, following your chemical peel. We may also recommend you stop certain products with ingredients that are contraindicated after a peel for the following 5-7 days – AHAs, BHAs, retinoids, retinols and facial products containing fragrance.

3 days prior to the peel, we recommend that you stop using active products (i.e. those containing retinol, retinoids, glycolic acid and other AHAs, BHAs, exfoliating masks, benzoyl peroxide. We would also recommend that you stop any bleaching products (i.e. hydroquinone).
Avoid laser hair removal, waxing, depilatory creams or electrolysis 5-7 days prior to the peel. We also recommend no sun bed treatments, or any form of sunburn on tanning of the face 2 weeks prior to your peel (including fake tan)
For dry skin (barrier impaired) our skin specialist will advise which medical skincare we would recommend hydrating the skin.
If you have recently had any medical aesthetic facial treatments such as laser treatment, microdermabrasion, you should wait to have any acid-based peel until all lingering skin sensitivity has subsided.
After an Obagi Blue Radiance Peel, you must use SPF for at least one week after the peel; a sun protection product with an SPF of at least 30 should be worn at all times. Dryness and redness may occur for 1-2 days; mild peeling should start to occur within 48hrs and can last 2-5 days. Do not use any physical exfoliation, but treat the skin very gently. A mild moisturiser such as Clenziderm or Obagi Hydrate facial moisturiser may and should be used to minimise dryness and redness. Avoid products containing fragrance for 3-5 days post peel. Avoid direct sun exposure and use of all exfoliating agents such as AHAs, BHAs, retinoids, retinols and exfoliating scrubs for 5-7 days post peel. A normal regimen can be resumed 7 days post peel.

The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance has 20% Salicylic Acid (helps to unclog pores and reduce inflammation), 2% Glycolic acid (boosts collagen production and supports skin’s moisture) and 2% Lactic acid (aids in hydration and further exfoliation).
