Erectile Dysfunction And Covid-19 – Is There A Link?

5 April 2022 by Omniya Clinic

An increasing number of reports are indicating that men recovering from a Covid-19 infection are more likely to suffer erectile dysfunction afterwards.

A recent study examined monkeys infected with Covid, and found results consistent with reports that indicate that men infected with the virus are three to six times more likely to develop erectile dysfunction. This side effect has been regularly reported by sufferers, along with other genital tract dysfunctions such as testicular pain, reduced sperm counts, reduced sperm quality, decreased fertility and testosterone deficiency, and hypogonadism.

A study in the World Journal of Men’s Health found the virus was still present in men’s penile tissue six to eight months after the initial infection.

There is a lot we still don’t know or understand about the different symptoms of Covid-19 and Long Covid, with many different overlapping factors of ill-health that vary wildly between different patients.

Scientists are still a long way from developing a treatment to combat the effects of Long Covid. Luckily, some symptoms can be treated separately, and there exists a comprehensive set of solutions to combat erectile dysfunction.

Treating Erectile Dysfunction

There are three courses of action available to you, should you suffer from erectile dysfunction. Vascular reconstructive surgery can be of use in extreme cases – however, the surgery is difficult, and not always successful.

There are popular pharmaceutical products such as Viagra, which can be used to prepare the body for sexual activity, when taken at least 30 minutes beforehand. For some men, this is the ideal solution to erectile dysfunction – it’s one of many products we stock in our Omniya Clinic In-House Pharmacy.

However, when suffering a broader range of symptoms associated with male genital tract dysfunction, products like Viagra might not be enough to restore your wellbeing. It could be necessary to address these issues in a different way. A more holistic solution can be found through TRT – testosterone replacement therapy.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy

TRT, also known as male hormone replacement therapy, provides a course of regular treatments designed to boost your levels of testosterone. TRT is also recommended for men suffering from andropause, or hypogonadism – a condition that affects roughly 10% of men over 40.

Although testosterone production decreases for most men over 40, andropause sufferers experience a range of unwelcome symptoms, including fatigue, weight gain, and low moods or depression. TRT has been proven to help men struggling with this condition, as well as alleviating the symptoms of erectile dysfunction.

Here at our London hormone clinic, we’ll consult carefully with you before recommending any course of testosterone replacement therapy. Once we’ve assessed your medical history and lifestyle, we’ll recommend a course of treatment tailored to your physical requirements.

There are several different options available, such as Sustanon, Testosterone Cypionate, and Nebido. Treatment frequency and delivery systems vary, so finding the best solution for you is essential.
