Great clinic. Had the designer lip filler with Dr Thu Linh and my lips look fantastic, they look natural too which I was worried about! Great team! - Vanessa
I have had a great experience with Omniya and Dr Roked. I started TRT at the ripe old age of 58 and I have never felt better. Who knew hormones could make such an impact on someones life! - Richard
If you are thinking of going on Hormone Replacement Therapy I would highly recommend Dr Sohere Roked. She is the best doctor I have ever met. She listens and understands her patients (I know because my 2 sisters also see her) Her approach is different to other doctors as she is a trained psychologist - She understands the balance between hormone therapy and mental health. She has honestly saved my life! - Meridith
Fantastic clinic. Everything you need in one place, I started seeing Dr Roked for HRT. She has changed my life. They have a pharmacy too which is convenient for me. I never write reviews but this clinic has changed my life! - Vanessa
Great experience overall. The hormone doctor is phenomenal and has helped me a great deal. I wont go into too much detail but she has helped me in all aspects of my life. I have more energy I'm sleeping better. They have amazing skin treatments too. I recently tried PRP dermapen and my skin looks and feels great. - Danilo
Omniya's Dr Tu Lin was recommended to me by a friend who has the most incredible skin and lips. Obviously, I had to try. She is such a caring doctor, and went out of her way. I've had lip fillers in the past with others, but now I've been to Omniya I doubt I need to go anywhere else. I love my new lips. Omniya Clinic is without fail the best place for lip fillers in London! Thank you! - Nora
HIFU Treatment Information
What is HIFU?
HIFU stands for high-intensity focused ultrasound. This is a fairly new cosmetic treatment, which offers effective skin tightening. Many people are turning to HIFU as a painless and non-invasive alternative to facelifts. With this treatment, the production of collagen is encouraged through the use of ultrasound energy. This results in skin that is a lot firmer. You will be able to get that youthful, radiant, and slim-looking face you dream about without having to go under the knife.
HIFU has been used for aesthetic purposes for around a decade now. However, you may have heard of HIFU before because it has actually been used for tumor treatment. In 2009 it was approved by the FDA for brow lifts. A few years later, the FDA approved this treatment for improving wrinkles and lines of the neckline and upper chest. So, you can be sure that it is a safe and effective treatment.
How does it work?
HIFU is a non-invasive treatment, making it the perfect solution for anyone who does not want to go under the knife. And, why would you want to go under the knife when you don’t have to? This treatment is also effective for people who have had invasive cosmetic surgery and they want to rejuvenate its effects after a bit of time has been and gone. HIFU procedures involve using ultrasound so that the production of collagen is kickstarted. Collagen is the structural protein in the skin that helps with healing, skin rejuvenation, and adding elasticity. This means that HIFU will prompt firming up areas that are problematic and show signs of sagging and aging.
Why consider a treatment?
There is no denying that HIFU has become an extremely popular treatment. Over the past few years, we have seen a lot of people opt to have this type of treatment instead of having a facelift. There are a number of reasons why HIFU is so popular. It offers the following benefits:
- Smooths the skin
- Tightens the decolletage
- Enhances the definition of your jaw
- Lifts the eyelids, eyebrows, and cheeks
- Tightens skin on the neck that has started to sag
- Reduces wrinkles
As you can see, there are many ways that HIFU can help you to end up with the results you’re looking for.
What to consider before getting HIFU treatment
There are a number of things you should do before the treatment in order to ensure the best possible results! We recommend avoiding sunless tanning and sun exposure for a week before the treatment. You must also stop taking all skin irritants on the area being treated. This includes the likes of Vitamin C, Differin, Triluma, Tazorac, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, glycolic acids, and retinal products, like Retin A.
If you are taking any antibiotics, make sure your practitioner is made aware of this during the consultation. We always start every treatment with a consultation, as this enables our specialist to assess your skin and make their recommendations. It is also the perfect opportunity for you to ask any questions that you may have.
On the day of your treatment, it is good to arrive to your appointment early so that you can sign the consent form and take any pre-photos should you wish to. You should also make sure you do not wear any moisturiser or makeup on the day. However, if you forget about this, don’t worry, as we will have a cleanser in the office so you can remove the products before your treatment.
What does the procedure involve?
There is no special preparation that is going to be required of you before you have your HIFU procedure, however, we advise that all skincare products and makeup are removed from the target area before you have the treatment, though.
Here’s what you should expect from your appointment:
- Your specialist will clean the target area.
- A topical anaesthetic cream will be applied before the procedure begins.
- The practitioner will then apply an ultrasound gel.
- The HIFU device is placed against the skin.
- The person carrying out the treatment will then adjust the device to the correct setting.
- Ultrasound energy will then be delivered to the target area in short pulses for anything between 30 and 90 minutes.
- The device is removed.
As you can see, the procedure is pretty straightforward and as it is delivered by highly knowledgeable and experienced clinicians, we are sure you will be delighted with the results. After your treatment is completed, we can also schedule you in for your next treatment should you need another one.
Perfect’ Me HIFU
Whilst there are many different types of HIFU machines on the market today, we are pleased to partner with Perfect’Me. We believe that their machines are the best in the industry. They are great for skin rejuvenation, skin tightening, and collagen remodelling. We have found their machines to be extremely safe, and have been tested to ISO 13485 medical device standards. The device works in a similar manner to using a magnifying glass to focus sunlight. An acoustic lens is used so that multiple intersecting beams of ultrasound are concentrated on the target skin area. Each individual beam will pass through the tissue with little effect yet on the focal point where the beams converge.
Are you the right candidate?
HIFU is highly effective, yet it could be that a different treatment is right for you. It all depends on the current condition of your skin and your skin goals. Our highly experienced practitioners will be able to assess your skin and make expert recommendations on the right treatment for you.
HIFU is most effective on skin that has become somewhat loose, yet is not extremely loose. It can tighten skin, but it will not tighten skin that has sagged severely. The best thing to do is book a consultation with one of our experienced skin specialists who will be able to give you their expert advice on what treatment is going to be best for you.
With HIFU, the focused ultrasound energy will target the collagen in the skin’s deeper layers, heating it the point that it will contract and tighten. This heat will boost new elastin and collagen formation over the next few months. This is what will really tighten up the skin.
As you probably know, people respond in different ways to aesthetic treatments. This is why it is always best to see a professional and choose a clinic with care. This is something you don’t have to worry about with Omniya.
What does it feel like?
You may encounter a little discomfort while you have this procedure, yet you should not feel any pain. A lot of our patients have described it as a slight prickly sensation. Once you have had the treatment, it is not unusual to experience a bit of swelling or mild redness. This will recede gradually over the next few hours.
How long after HIFU will you see results?
With HIFU, highly concentrated ultrasound waves will penetrate deep into the skin, stimulating elastin and collagen. You can see around 20 per cent of the final results straight after the treatment. From three to six months onwards, the final result is visible, and this can last for up to two years depending on your lifestyle.
Aftercare advice for HIFU
It is normal for you to experience a little swelling and redness after the treatment. It is uncommon for bruises or blisters to develop, though. If you develop a blister, polysporin or some other type of topical antibiotic ointment will be used twice per day until the blister is healed. Here are some post-treatment instructions to help you:
- Our staff will suggest a post-procedure skincare regimen for you to follow to maximise and prolong your treatment and to reduce complications.
- Dermal fillers, chemical peels, Dysport, and Botox can be resumed one week post your treatment.
- Apply SPF 30 or higher after the treatment. Continue to use sunblock on a daily basis to minimise irritation and maximise your results.
- A light moisturiser and non-exfoliant cleaner can be used the day after your treatment. You can then resume your normal skincare routine the following day.
- Avoid exercise, steam rooms, saunas, and hot tubs post-treatment.
- Depilatory creams, tweezing, and waxing can be resumed three days after your treatment.
- You can apply makeup again after you have had your treatment.
- Do not use an ice pack after the treatment, as this can affect your results. You should not need to use any pain medication after you have had treatment.
What is the difference between HIFU and radiofrequency?
Whilst radiofrequency and HIFU are both energy-based technologies, they are not the same. There are some overlaps between the two. This is because they both stimulate the production of collagen and tighten up the skin. However, there are some key differences between the two. HIFU is more precise, whereas radiofrequency has a bulk heating effect. HIFU also goes a lot deeper, up to 4.5 mm below the surface. Of course, this depends on the settings the specialist uses on the device.
Most people would agree that HIFU does not hurt. Rather, you may feel a tingling and heat sensation throughout the treatment.
We have found HIFU to be a safe treatment, provided it is performed by a qualified and trained professional.
There are many different types of machines out there on the market today, and they are not all created equally. We are pleased to use the Perfect’me machine at Omniya, which we believe to be the best in the industry.
The results of HIFU depend on the area being treated. However, HIFU has become very popular amongst both women and men who are looking to get rid of a double chin.
A lot of people experience eye bags, which is something that genetically runs in a lot of families. We have seen it made worse by deep-set eyes and thin under-eye skin. HIFU is actually one of the best options when it comes to treating stubborn eye bags.
HIFU is an effective and safe solution for tightening and lifting the jowls, reducing fine lines around your mouth, nose, and eyes, tightening your skin around your neckline and jaw, and reducing saggy, hooded eyelids.
We have seen great results achieved after only one HIFU treatment. If you do have additional treatment, we advise you have it at least 8-12 months after the first.
None! You can actually go right back to your daily activities once you have had HIFU.
