Other popular areas include cheeks and the bridge of the nose, which is known as the non-surgical rhinoplasty.

Dermal fillers are a gel-like substance, nowadays typically made up of hyaluronic acid that fill wrinkles, add volume to soft tissue and hydrate the skin. You can have dermal fillers in a variety of areas, such as around the eye, mouth and jawline, cheeks and in this blog, we discuss fillers which are administered directly into the lip – lip fillers.
Dermal fillers are a safe and long-used substitute to restore the loss of volume, whilst also adding lift. Dermal fillers work by restoring the lost volume to your face and plump areas, so deep set lines are smoothed. As we age, our bodies stop producing elastin and collagen – both of these contributing to a youthful look. Experts debate over when collagen starts to decline, but generally it is agreed that it starts when you are around 25 years. After this, there is a steady decline of collagen each year, with your body essentially stopping production.
Typically, a dermal filler treatment lasts around 6-18 months (depending on how your body reacts to hyaluronic acid. Typical side effects can include swelling, redness and tenderness. It is very normal to experience some discomfort, bruising and/or redness after the procedure. Reactions to dermal fillers usually occur immediately after the injection of dermal fillers, and can include swelling, pain, redness, bruising, itching, and tenderness at the injection location. The reactions are typically mild to moderate, and usually disappear shortly after the injection, and resolve within a few days after the injection of dermal fillers. Should you experience any different reactions, or notice any discolouration, it is important to notify your clinic or practitioner immediately so that they can assess. Dermal filler treatments can be accompanied by applying an anaesthetic cream before treatment to provide as much relief from the discomfort of injecting the filler, and to alleviate any discomfort. Many of the dermal fillers which are used at Omniya also continue a pre-mixed local anaesthetic for patient comfort.
When it comes to lip fillers, also known as lip augmentation, patients often have very different goals and expectations, and results can be achieved from injecting as little as 0.5ml of dermal filler. Dermal fillers are also effective for smoothing out ‘lipstick lines’ or ‘smokers lines’ around the mouth.
There are many reasons why people are unhappy with the shape or size of their lips, whether their lips have thinned, or have become less defined as a results of the natural ageing process.

What does the treatment involve?

How will I look afterwards?
The effects of your lip fillers and enhancement are immediate, but you may experience 2 days of downtime to let some minor swelling subside.
Are Lip Fillers safe?
All non-invasive procedures carry a small amount of risk, which is why we only administer them after a face to face consultation, during which a full assessment will be carried out and detailed cautions and contraindications are discussed. However, by nature Dermal Fillers are a safe procedure and a leading option to contour and add volume to your lips. Please ask your practitioner for more information.
What are the risks?
Risk is minimal compared to invasive surgical treatments. However, it is not uncommon to experience minor side effects like slight swelling, as lip fillers are an injection-based treatment and pierce the facial skin direct.
What are the side effects?
A side effect can be very light bruising. Lasting up to three days, medically this bruising process simply occurs as healthy bloodstream works to instantly treat the broken skin tissue from the injection point. This is temporary and lasts normally anywhere from 3 days up to a week. It should be noted that other interference issues may also provoke bruising including medications, lifestyle and alcohol. Swelling and redness may also appear. These side effects typically only last a few days.
